1. General information

The website simflightboard.com aims to be transparent about what data is collected and how it is used.
This policy explains what data may be collected when you use the site and for what purposes it is used.

2. Analytics and third-party services

To understand how the site is used, we use the following analytics services:
  • Google Analytics
  • Yandex.Metrica
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon
These services may automatically collect technical information, such as:
  • IP address
  • browser type
  • device type
  • operating system
  • pages on the site
  • date and time of your visit
This information is used to collect website traffic statistics, which helps us gauge interest in specific features and make decisions regarding the project’s future development. We do not use this information to display personalized ads.

3. Error monitoring (Sentry)

To detect, diagnose, and fix technical problems, we use Sentry, a third-party error and performance monitoring service operated by Functional Software, Inc. Data is sent to Sentry's infrastructure in the European Union (EU data region).
Depending on what happens in your browser or on our servers, Sentry may receive:
  • error reports (messages, stack traces, and related technical context)
  • performance traces (timing data for requests and operations)
  • application log lines that our code forwards to Sentry
  • for a sample of visits, a Session Replay: a recording-like view of the page (DOM changes and interactions) to understand what led to a problem; a larger share of replays is captured when an error occurs
  • by default in our configuration, certain identifying technical data that Sentry can attach (for example IP address and request headers where applicable), so we can reproduce server-side issues
Current sampling settings (they may change as we tune the service): roughly 10% of normal browsing sessions may be recorded for Session Replay; when an error is captured, Session Replay is collected for that case at 100%. Performance traces are currently collected at full sample rate.
From your browser, events are first sent to our own domain (a path on simflightboard.com) and then forwarded to Sentry. That only changes the network route; the same categories of data still end up in Sentry for processing.
We use Sentry for reliability and engineering, not for advertising or selling data. How Sentry handles data on their side is described in their privacy policy. Session Replay applies privacy-oriented masking by default, but you should avoid entering secrets (passwords, tokens, private messages) into the site, as with any web application.

4. Server logs

The website server automatically saves technical logs of requests.
These logs are used for:
  • troubleshooting technical issues
  • monitoring load
  • maintaining security and stable operation
Logs are stored for no more than 7 days and are automatically deleted.

5. Contact / bug report form

The site includes a “Report a bug” form.
It may contain the following information:
  • Email (optional field)
  • message text
  • the current page URL (the page where the report was submitted)
Email is used only to contact you if additional details are needed to resolve the issue.
The submitted data is used to investigate and fix issues. It is not used for marketing.

6. Cookies

The site uses a minimal set of cookies needed for its functionality.

Essential cookies

These cookies are necessary for the site to work correctly and cannot be disabled:
  • saving your selected language
  • saving your selected theme (light/dark)
  • storing your choice to allow or deny analytics/tracking

7. Local storage

The site also uses browser localStorage to store a few user settings, for example:
  • whether the user has acknowledged the VATSIM disclaimer
  • whether the flight-board detailed-page tip has been shown
This data stays in your browser and is not sent to the server.

8. Changes

This privacy policy may be updated.
The latest version is always available on this page.

Please note that the data on this page refers only to the VATSIM network and has nothing to do with real-world aviation.
